We are really proud of our organic premium CBD oil: The Original Oil. And we believe that once you know the story and work behind it, you'll appreciate it even more. There are brands out there that artificially grow their CBD in labs and destroy some of the active ingredients with harsh extraction methods. There are even some actors who keep some of the illegal compound THC the oil. Here's everything you need to know to find a CBD oil that you can feel safe and good about.
Does the quality of the CBD oil matter?
Yes, the better the quality, the more you get out of it. But unfortunately, the quality varies a lot between different brands. Even if two oils have the same amount of CBD (ours contains 10% CBD), it can differ a lot in how potent and qualitative that proportion is. The other ingredients in the CBD oil matters as well. Watch out for preservatives, chemicals or artificial flavors. It’s also a bonus if the so-called “carrier oil” also has some good and healthy properties. Our Original Oil contains nothing else than 10% organic CBD and organic MCT oil (from coconut).
What makes MANTLE’s CBD oil so special?
The combination of Swedish values and Swiss science! We are a team of female founders, and our mission is to help people find balance in health hacks that seamlessly fit into everyday life. CBD is one of those simple hacks! You, as a customer, are our most important asset. We’ll always do what we can to make you satisfied.
Our hemp plants are only grown in natural sunlight and soil, before they are harvested by hand. We only use the leafs closest to the flower for the highest concentration of CBD. Our cold extraction process is so gentle that all active ingredients are retained. Afterwards, we make sure to remove all traces of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC.
We strongly recommend finding out how the product is made when choosing CBD.
What does it mean that MANTLE's CBD oil is organic?
We are proud to say that our hemp plants are grown organically on the Swiss hillsides according to the BioSuisse standard, which is the highest organic standard in Switzerland (and even higher than EU’s and Sweden’s regular organic standards).
MANTLE’s hemp is grown in natural sunlight and pesticide-free soil. Only the best leaves are hand-picked during a window of only three days a year to maximize the content of CBD, while minimizing the THC (which will later be completely removed). After harvesting CBD is extracted using the environmentally friendly and non-toxic supercritical CO2 cold extraction method. This ensures the preservation of all the active plant ingredients. Every single batch is analyzed by a third-party lab and tested for purity and potency to ensure consistent dosage and safety. The result is a completely natural product, which we are incredibly proud of.
What's the difference between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD?
If you've been searching around for CBD, you may have noticed some products are marketed as full-spectrum, some broad-spectrum, and others as CBD isolate.
Full-spectrum CBD is made out of nearly all of the compounds naturally present in the cannabis plant. This obviously includes CBD, as well as THC, which is another compound from the cannabis plant that’s psychoactive and therefore illegal in most countries (including Sweden). Full-spectrum also contains good compounds like terpenes that give the smell and flavor, flavonoids that have antioxidant properties, and much more.
Broad-spectrum, which is what we do at MANTLE, is like full-spectrum but without the THC. So we keep all the natural plant ingredients (that together create something called the entourage effect), but of course take the psychoactive and illegal components out. The result is a broad-spectrum premium oil with its natural, earthy scent that comes from the terpenes, and its full complex potential – without any of the illegal THC.
CBD isolate, on the other hand, contains only (or nearly only) CBD. CBD companies can achieve this either by isolating CBD from a cannabis extract or by making it artificially in a lab. There are even companies that produce cannabinoids from sugar, so the CBD is not even extracted from the hemp or cannabis plant. The opposite to natural, right?
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are what gives plants and flowers it's smell and flavor (read more about terpenes here). Some brands remove all the terpenes when they extract the CBD because of the distinct aroma. Especially flavored CBD have removed a lot (or all) of the terpenes, to exchange them for essential oils or artificial flavors and scents. MANTLE’s Original Oil has a herby and earthy, yet still mild, scent and taste because it’s so natural. We really like it, and hope you will too! Psst, you can always switch it up by adding it to flavored drinks! We like that solution far better.
Why do you keep the terpenes in your CBD oil?
At MANTLE, we keep all the natural terpenes because of their complex properties. CBD and terpenes together create something called an entourage effect, which we want to have. Hence, our oil is not an isolate but a broad-spectrum CBD oil. But you need to be careful when extracting because the terpenes are very sensitive. After we've gently cold extracted the best leaves of the hemp plant, we want to remove the psychoactive cannabinoid THC (read more here about CBD vs THC). But before we do so, we temporarily take the terpenes out; otherwise, they'll get harmed in the process. After the THC is removed, we put the terpenes back in there.
We promise you that once you know and feel the difference, you'll appreciate our natural unflavored CBD oil even more!
