The term ‘grounding’ may or may not be familiar to you. It is becoming used more and more frequently among yoga practitioners, the health community and people just trying to be a little more present in their everyday life! Regardless who you are, anyone can benefit from grounding exercises.
Signs of being ungrounded include getting distracted easily, overthinking and worrying or being obsessed with what other people think about you. Sounds familiar?
Practicing grounding has been used as a therapeutic technique that clears the mind, recharges energy and balances your emotions. Despite being rather under-researched health experts believe that the suggested benefits of grounding practices may simply be derived from reconnecting to earth, checking in with yourself and taking a well-earned break.
Here are some easy ways to practice grounding this summer:
Walking barefoot is a perfect grounding exercise
The feeling of grass under the soles of your feet will undoubtedly bring you some childhood nostalgia and can be an effective way to feel more grounded. Get out in your garden or the closest park, set your feet free and connect with mother earth.
We love organising a delicious picknick with friends in the grass where we live. It such an underestimated way of taking part of nature.
Refresh yourself with a dip in the ocean
Swimming in the ocean not only refreshes mind, body and soul, it also grounds you and makes you access the sweetness of the present moment! Put on the sauna and then go skinny-dipping with your besties to make the most of it!
Is the sea cold where you live? Don't let that stop you from a quick dip! In fact, according to Wim Hof, the colder the better. And if you are not familiar with the Wim Hof method it is time to google it - yes, you can thank us later!
Balance yourself by taking some high-quality CBD oil
We swear by a few drops of CBD oil to make us feel more balanced. Try some MANTLE Original Oil, count to 1-2-3 while taking some deep breaths to increase the quality of relaxation! Checking in with your breath is a great way of instantly feeling more present and anchored to reality.
Lie down and do a body scan meditation
Perhaps the most simple way to check in with yourself and feel grounded is to lie down and fully surrender yourself to the law of gravitation. Why not simultaneously listen to the Bodyscan meditation in CBD-podden and treat yourself to a moment of rest?
Another related tip from the MANTLE team is to try Yoga Nidra - a beautiful yoga practice that is so nourishing for an anxious or stressed mind. Here is a free 20-minute guided Yoga Nidra practice.
Drink some hot, herbal tea
Pour a cup of grounding tea (Chai is great!) to calm down and anchor yourself in your physical body. If you fancy something cooler during a hot summer day, an iced Matcha latte can do the trick too! We highly recommend adding a few drops of CBD oil to boost your drink further.
We hope you feel inspired to try and make room for some grounding exercises in your life!
Lots of Love,
